Description

We are a local family based in Kempston, Bedford, looking for a small field, paddock or piece of land to rent as a starter smallholding/growing project. Ideally, we are looking for around 0.25 to 1 acre within roughly 30–40 minutes of Kempston. We would like to use the land for growing vegetables, pumpkins, herbs, flowers and possibly keeping a small number of chickens in the future, subject to permission. Access to water would be ideal, or permission to bring/store water on site. We would also be interested in land with secure fencing, parking nearby, or space for a small shed/tool store or polytunnel, if allowed. Longer term, we are hoping to build a small family-run outdoor/nature-based project, possibly including parent-attended outdoor sessions for children and families. This would only be done with the correct permissions, insurance and agreement from the landowner. We are responsible, practical and happy to discuss different options, including short-term rental, longer-term lease, shared use of land, or helping maintain an unused paddock/field. Areas of interest include Kempston, Bedford, Wootton, Bromham, Oakley, Clapham, Sharnbrook, Thurleigh, Riseley, Great Barford, Sandy, Biggleswade, St Neots, Rushden, Higham Ferrers, Raunds, Wellingborough, Thrapston and surrounding villages.
