My name is Jason, I am 53 from Ilford Essex area. I have last year purchased a metal detector and I’m looking for a permission to search some fields in the area. I’ve had trouble so far in my search. Most farms I visited recently already have a few detectorists that use their land but I’ve been advised to keep trying. I appreciate that some farmers are not keen on metal detectorists due to some being irresponsible and causing problems. I can assure you I am very responsible, and I would be willing to meet with you to discuss further if you would like, so you can see what sort of person I am. I’m very new to detecting. My grandfather would find lots of treasure when I was growing up and I would like to follow in his footsteps. Please would you get back to me if you would be willing to allow me permission to detect on your land – no matter the size. If the answer is a no then I thank you for your time. Please could you let me know this so I can remove you from my list. I also would like to add, I have a spare detector so if at any time whilst out detecting on your land (if permission is granted) and you would like to experience the skill of detecting and uncovering history first hand you would be very welcome.
