Description

Looking for a field to use for IGP dog sport. A small group of 6 to 8 handlers each with a German Shepherd. The sport requires skills in Obedience, Tracking and Protection. The sport developed from a temperament test for GSDs developed by the German police. Correct training develops steady, reliable dogs and a great bond between handler and dog. You will see a lot of happy, engaged dogs on a IPG field. An important part of the sport is appropriate etiquette. Dogs cannot mess up the field and so handlers train dogs to "empty" prior to training. Dogs work one at a time. The only time two dogs are on the field at the same time, one dog is in a "long down". This means that it must lie down and not move or make a sound while the other dog does it's obedience: heeling, positions, positions in motion, send aways, recalls, jumps with and without retrieval of object.
