Good Morning, I run a drone (UAV). Flight school in Hong Kong and the UK and have been teaching commercial drone pilots since 2015. Since Scottcopters (www.scottcopters.com) has partnered with the UAV Academy in the UK, they have asked us to conduct flight examinations for them under the auspices of the British CAA in southeast UK. Scottcopters would therefore need a part of a field in which to conduct flight exams. The risk and nuisance to persons would be minimal and we would not fly near the House. We have third party liability insurance and carry corporate liability insurance. We would only be testing pilots on small drones from 250 Grammes to 19 Kgs max. Most drones are between 750grammes to 2.6 Kgs. The flight exams take about 90 minutes and comprise about an hour of chat and set up of equipment and 20-30 minutes of flying skills and simulated emergencies. At the moment there is no area in the southeast where UAV Academy operates exams and they asked me to find a suitable location. I am based in Maidstone, so a nearby property would be ideal. We are probably looking at no more than three exams a month so it would not be a huge booking. Part of the exam tests the candidate on handling and assessing the environment and safety of members of the public and would be closely controlled/monitored by the examiner. I would be happy to pay a small fee for each use of the field or perhaps of greater value to you, I myself could take some professional video or photographs of your estate should you so wish.
