A couple of years ago, perhaps ill advisedly, we bought a twenty year old minibus from a man in Barnet. It was dark at the time. The following morning we were greeted with a somewhat sombre sight - rusted and battered, but with his dropping ariel and tour bus history, an undeniable charm. That summer we insulated, clad, sweated and sanded. We drafted in friends with expertise and power tools, paying them in splinters and pizza. The end result was 'Brian', a fully functioning (most of the time) two-berth camper, equipped with kitchenette, loo and integrated wine rack. Brian has taken us across France; Portugal; Spain, the Highlands and Hebrides. We've broken down in more places you can shake a gear stick at, but we love this old boy. This year we begin the adoption process, hoping to make our wonky family complete. Brian is taking us to Italy in September, but then will be forced into retirement. With only two seats and Social Services' reluctance to allow us to strap children to the roof, it's time to invest in an adult vehicle. This is where we hit two major hurdles: firstly we are struggling to part with Bri; secondly, as charity workers (this is us: www.yellowsubmarine.org.uk) and potentially three children on the way, our opportunities for holidays are going to be financially restricted! Which is where we are hoping somebody may be able to help - we are seeking a small plot of land to park Brian; large enough to house the camper and a tent. In an ideal world this would be near water (we are keen canoeists/kayakers). This would be an essential getaway for us and the kids. Were open to geographical location, and hope that someone out there may be able to help.
