I have been engaged in the hobby of metal detecting for some time now and find it an extremely healthful, enjoyable pastime that allows me to meet many interesting people. The thrill of finding old coins, buttons etc, and discovering items that have been buried for many years is very exciting to me my best find to date is Roman coin 1384 years old. I’m looking for and writing to ask you for to detect on your land, or a part thereof. Anything I find would be shown to you and you would also be offered 50% of anything of value found on your property. Any historic finds would, in addition, be reported to the Finds Liason Officer (FLO) in London and Kent who will record and note the item on their historical records. I am member of The National Council For Metal Detectorists and fully insured accordingly. I always respect the property that we search on and try to leave it in the same condition that we found it. Normally the targets are no deeper than 4 or 5 inches and I retrieve them such that the ground appears undisturbed. Any scrap will also be taken away for recycling. I would welcome the chance to meet with you in person to discuss the chance of detection on your land, however i feel that a email beforehand is preferential to just knocking on your door at an inconvenient time and invading your privacy.
